Anyone have a favorite mystery author they want to share?

We had a good Christmas...although it was cut short because of the Blizzard that came through Oklahoma on the 23rd and 24th. We were able to be with both daughters, their husbands and our three granddogs. We were very Blessed to be able to get together and we really appreciated our daughters and their families for making the trip to come home for Christmas.

My Mom turned 91 on Christmas Day! My husband and I ate lunch with her, chatted awhile and then she was ready to take a nap. She was tired out!

I went to the bookstore earlier today and traded in a hardback book that I had purchased for my husband for Christmas. He was able to read it quickly because of the Christmas Eve Blizzard...we stayed inside...it was too cold to get out. He likes James Patterson's books because the chapters are really short and he likes that! I did get him another Patterson paperback book to read over the New Years Holiday, so he will be happy about that. (He also loves Robert B. Parker's novels...the Spenser series and the Jesse Stone series). I found two Jesse Stones paperback books today also, so my husband will a happy and busy guy! I really like the Spenser and Jesse Stone series also.

I love to read mystery novels and have recently discovered a new author that I really like. My sister introduced me to Julie Garwood and I have been reading the Buchanan-Renard series of her books. They are really good and I have thoroughly enjoyed them. While I was at the bookstore, I just "happended" (lol) to find another Julie Garwood paperback book that I hadn't read yet...so I will have a book to read over the New Years Holiday too! I can always read the two Jesse Stone paperbacks that I got for my husband also!

My sister left today...

My sister left today and I am sad. We had fun together and she has always been so good to relieve me with my Mom. We didn't get to a movie, but we sure ate alot of ice cream! My brother is great about helping with Mom also, but he always goes back to his house (90 miles away) each time he sees Mom and helps me with her. Because my sister lives further away, she stays at our house for several days, so we have more time together to laugh, giggle and be silly.

I look forward to my sister coming again in a few months, to stay a few days so we can laugh some more! Makes lots of fun memories too!

My Sis has arrived in Oklahoma!

Hurray! My Sis has arrived in Oklahoma and I am so excited that she is here. She is my "Christmas present" and we tease each other about her wearing a red bow around her neck and sitting under the Christmas tree!

When I mentioned in an earlier post about us going to a "Girlie" movie and getting sick on the popcorn and diet coke...I failed to mention the Braum's Ice Cream that we devour while she is here.

There isn't a Braum's Ice Cream in Denver and she really loves their banana splits...really she loves the marshmallow creme that they put on the banana splits!! (She always asks for extra marshmallow creme!!). It is really creamy and she loves it. However, I wouldn't know about the marshmallow creme...I don't like banana splits...sundaes are my favorite. Chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce and lots of pecans...and I little bit of whipping creme and one cherry, please!

Oh course, she is beautifully petite and slim...but not so for me! I am a plus size gal and I have tried everything to change that...but so far...to no avail.

Anyway, I look forward to our "Girlie" movie and making ourselves sick on popcorn, diet coke and Braum's ice cream!! YEAH!

Give Thanks Always!

Several years ago, my hubby and father in law made large candy canes and a large santa face to hang on the front of our house (since then many sets have been made and given as gifts to family, friends, etc). They are cut from 3/4" wood and are really heavy. The candy canes and santa face are outlined with small lights and are definitely "one of a kind" (OOAK) decorations.

While our strong son-in-law was here for Thanksgiving this year, he helped my hubby to hang the candy canes, santa face and the strings of lights...outlining our house. The Santa face is heavy, very ackward to hold, stand on a ladder and hang above the garage door, so Scott's help was especially needed and appreciated.

Over the weekend, I remarked to my husband that I needed to remove my "Give Thanks" Thanksgiving sign that I painted with pilgrims and a pumpkin hanging below the sign. (photo of the sign is posted on the left side of my blog below). It is hanging by our front door. He replied..."Don't we need to Give Thanks Always?".

After Christmas, I am going to paint a sign with the words on it "Give Thanks Always". Until I get that sign painted, my Thanksgiving sign will hang by our front door and will remain on my blog.

It is so cold today and I am so spoiled!

It is so cold today, however, we were so Blessed that we didn't get any of the snow. Oh my, it is too early in the winter for these temperatures! I am wrapped up in a quilt, sitting here at the computer. I am spoiled!!

I could take some of our 100+ plus degree summer weather right now. Of course, I grumble about the hot weather and now I am grumbling about the cold weather. I think I have a case of "Bah-humbug" or something! lol!

Did errands with my Mom today

Hope you are having a great evening and staying warm. Wow, the north wind is howling outside! We were very Blessed, because quite a blizzard missed us. Drifts of several feet have been reported! Ugh! Pretty early for that much snow!

Picked up my Mom (she will be 91 on 12/25) and we did several errands that she had been wanting to do. We were able to get back before the wind got too bad...I didn't want her out in the cold wind. I even did some Christmas shopping this afternoon!

My sister from Denver, will be here on Thursday for a few days. We always have alot of fun...giggling and laughing about the silly things we have done. She is so good about helping me with my Mom, and even came and helped me out in September...when I had my knee surgery. She is a real Blessing to me!! Thank you, Sis!!

We didn't get along very well when I was little (she is 8 years older than I), because I was always in her way (big sisters know what I mean!!) and she thought I got away with murder with my Mom and Dad. I am the baby of the family, so I was very irritating...at least that is what she tells me now! We have a blast together now though and the time she is here...goes by way too quickly! I always look forward to our time together. We try to take in a "girlie" movie while she is here and eat popcorn until we are sick! Of course, lots of Diet Coke to wash the popcorn down too!

Freezing drizzle on its way

It was bitter cold here last night and today the north wind is howling. Freezing drizzle/rain is to arrive later this afternoon...hopefully people will stay home tonight and be safe!

It is so close to Christmas and I still have presents to purchase/wrap and need to get the house decorated too. Just can't get into the decorating mood...I don't know what is wrong with me.

We don't have any little ones around (except grand dogs) and they aren't too good about helping with decorating!! They love to chew the decorations up...I know that first hand! lol!

Happy Monday to everyone!

It has turned really cold here in Oklahoma...at least for Oklahoma it has! It is a good thing that I don't live up north...or I would freeze!

I have been enjoying all of the lovely photos of snow that my fellow bloggers are posting...and am glad that we are not at that point yet. Seems like in Oklahoma...at least our part...we don't get many big snows. However, we do get the ice storms and they are so damaging. Broken trees, power lines down, etc...that is not good!

Plumber came...went...we have hot water!

The plumber came earlier this week and we now have hot water....and no leaks!! YEAH!!

Waiting for the plumber.....

Good morning to all! I am up early this morning, waiting for the plumber to come and install a new water heater. Wish we could afford one of the new water heaters (Tankless kind)...but they are way to expensive for us to tackle right now. The new roof was enough to blow the budget for the next several years!

Of course, my hubby would say that the new water heater and roof are my Christmas presents this year! So thankful that we were able to do them...however, we had to. Just very Blessed that we have a home.

Need a hot water heater........

If it isn't one thing...it is something else that is needing replaced around our house!

Our hot water heater is leaking and needs to be replaced...and that won't be cheap. Oh well, it is kinda like my body...it is old and needs new parts! lol!

Last week it was the roof and now the hot water heater...we are on a roll! At least the hot water heater won't be as expensive as the roof, thank goodness.

Roofers are gone and our new roof is great!

Our roofers have left and our new roof is super! The guys did a great job and were very nice. They cleaned up well and hopefully...the large magnet that they drug around the front/back yard...caught any of the roofing nails that were dropped. I don't want to have any flat tires and have to go to a tire center to get flat tires fixed. The smell of new tires really makes me nauseous and I don't like to spend much time in tire centers!!

New roof is looking good!

Roofers were here bright and early this morning...at 7:00 am. Needless to say, I wasn't ready for them to come...I was happily sleeping...but not for long! lol!

New Roof at our house

We are getting a new roof at our house. The shingles have been delivered, the roofers are hard at it, and it is really noisy above my head. Our dog can not figure out what is going on and I don't know what I am going to do when he needs to use the bathroom! Guess I will put him on his leash and take him for a walk...will take a baggie with me...in case he decides to leave anything in a yard. Glad he is here with me though...he is a great watch dog!

Went to aqua size today and really enjoyed it. We have so much fun and it is a great group of gals. I receive so much encouragement from these ladies. Such a joy to be able to go!

The sun is shining here in Oklahoma, but you never know how long that will last! It seems like clouds can gather in an instant and we have a tornado! Of course, it is a little cold for that right now. Although the weather forecasters say that tornadoes can happen at any time of the year. I hope not today! Okay, enough of the weather!

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is next week? Where has time gone to this year? I started making snowmen and Santas this summer...and I can not believe that my "bag" is half empty. I didn't realize that I made so many!! Glad I did though, because they are really cute and I have been enjoying them so much! Each face has its own personality and they really are adorable. (No, I am not partial to my snowmen, LOL!).

I will be visiting my Mom at the nursing home soon. She will be 91 on Christmas and still is sharp as a tack, Thank you, Jesus! She keeps all of us on our toes!! I have been so Blessed to have such a wonderful Mom. She is such an inspiration to all of us and is a great prayer warrior. I have been so Blessed and am so Thankful for all my Blessings!

Hubby will be home soon and it will be time to eat, so I better get busy. (I need to clean up my crafting messes).

Winter has definitely come to Oklahoma today! Wow! It was so cloudy and cold today.

Surprisingly, the water at the YMCA was warm...and exercise class was fun, as always. I sure didn't want to go out in the cold, but I told myself that as long as there was no ice on the streets, I was going to go! I need to keep exercising my knee...it lets me know when I don't.

Returned to YMCA for Aquasize class and new auctions added

I had a delightful time this afternoon! I returned to the YMCA and attended my aquasize class for the first time in 4 months. I totally enjoyed it and was so glad to be back! Everyone said they had missed me and I was glad to hear that...beause I certainly missed them! We have several new faces in the class that have joined and that is really neat.

My knee did bother me some...but I came home and put an ice bag on it...and it settled down. I need to ice it several more times this evening...just to keep the swelling down. Anyway, I was glad that I returned and do you know what? My hubby told me that he was very proud of me and I was thrilled to hear that. After 39 plus years of marriage, I still love to hear that he is proud of me! He is so good to me and I love him today more than I did on January 17, 1970! I am so Blessed to have his love and to be his wife.

Hi there! Hope that everyone had a safe Halloween and didn't eat too much candy! We spent Saturday evening with our daughters/hubbies/granddogs and had a great time!

Yesterday, we forgot to sit our clocks back...and we were one hour early to Sunday School and church! WOW! That was the first time that we had ever done that...definitely a Senior Moment! It was a long day...I could have used that extra hour sleeping!

I will be going to water walking/aqua size today. My son-in-law Scott told me that if I returned to the YMCA that he would start riding his bike again. Just the push that I needed! Thanks, Scott! You are the BEST!!

Snowman Head with Green Wreath & Rice Lights! Snowman Head Ornie/Bowl Filler is BUY IT NOW

I finished up an adorable Snowman Head Centerpiece that sits on a 9" green wreath and it has a string of 20 rice (tiny) lights included. It is really cute and will be so sweet to display all winter long.

Didn't go to water walking......

Well, I chickened out today! My knee is really acting weird today, so I didn't go to aqua size/water walking after all. Our town had a Fall Open House of homes for sale yesterday...and I did alot of walking yesterday. I came home and iced my knee several times, but today it just felt weird...I felt like it was going to go out on me several times, so I just decided to play it safe and be a chicken! I imagine it was just my imagination! Hopefully, I can go on Wednesday.

Just a note to let you know that I have listed new auctions to Ebay this evening. The Santa Shelf Sitter is really sweet and will be fantastic nestled in greenery, etc.

I love the Primitive Snowmen Heads that can be used in wreaths, swags, garlands...really anywhere that you want some sparkles/twinkles! The heads can be used for lots of things...use your imagination! You won't be disappointed with them.

The large snowman ornie would be great used in a wreath too...the pocket contents are not permanently attached...so you can change them out for different seasons, etc.

Last physical therapy session today........

Went to my last physical therapy session today. I will miss the people there...very helpful/nice people...even though they did hurt me! lol! I know they did it to make my knee better. I am thankful for their expertise and knowledge!

Will return to the YMCA on Monday for water walking and aqua size classes. I have really missed it and will enjoy seeing everyone again.

Where is the sun??????

When I woke up this morning, the sun was shining. However, now it is raining and the sun has disappeared. Forecast calls for colder temps and possibility of frost tomorrow night...will have to cover my mums ...they are such a beautiful, vibrant yellow. Our trees have changed colors also...and they are so pretty. Wow! Fall is such a gorgeous time of the year. Thank you, Jesus!

Physical therapy was brutal!

I went to PT yesterday and I really hurt when I came home. I was told that I needed to re-learn how to walk with my right leg...I had been favoring it for three months and walking on the outside of my leg. Now that my knee has been surgically corrected...I had to change how I walked. Although it really did hurt to do the exercises, my leg is not bothering me as much. Thank you, Jesus! I am so Blessed to have a physical therapist that knows what she is doing. Even though it hurts...she is helping me and it is for my good! Thank you so much Christina!!

Beautiful fall day today

Hope you are having a great Sunday! It is beautiful here today...the sun is shining and it is so nice outside! WOW! What a wonderful world God created and the seasons really make it special! Fall is my favorite...all the gorgeous colors!

Went to Church for the first time since my knee surgery and I was so Blessed to be back, worshiping and thanking Jesus for all the things He has done for me. Our youngest and her hubby are still here, so better get back to chatting with them! Just wanted to say HI to my blog friends!

Hives anyone???

What an interesting day I have had so far! I just returned from a medical clinic and the doctor said that I have hives! I have never had them before and boy, do they itch!! I got a steroid shot and I am to take Benadryl also. Boy, my face is really bumpy and I itch everywhere!!

Doubt if I will get anything listed this evening to Ebay...I am going to lay down for awhile. The Benadryl has made me very sleepy!

Mice versus crows....

Okay...if a mouse is not moving or caught in a trap...I can deal with it...I know they are God's creations and I shouldn't feel this way about them. I just don't understand why they are so popular this year in Primitive crafting.

However, I imagine some people feel the same way about crows...especially if they have a garden, are a farmer, etc.

I need to change my attitude about mice and just sew some...maybe I will like them much better (as long as they are not real). ☺☺☺☺

EKG, blood work, chest Xray...day is gone!

I spent the day at the hospital and doctor's office...having blood work done, EKG, Chest Xray, urine analysis by catheterization (not fun), etc...to be pre-certified by the hospital to have knee surgery in two weeks. After being at the hospital to have tests run, then went to see my regular doctor and he okayed me for surgery. I had no idea what all was involved...I haven't been admitted to the hospital...or had surgery in 27 years! I have been so Blessed...Thank you Jesus! I have had good health until this knee episode and hopefully the surgery will take care of that problem. I am to have a partial or total knee replacement...so looks like that is going to happen, since tests and blood work look great.

Unfortunately, no crafting or taking photos has been done today...so I am behind on my work!

Great way to start a Monday......!

Decided to start my day off with a bang....balancing my checkbook. UGH!!! Oh boy, was that ever fun! Too many withdrawals to Paypal...who keeps making those? he he! Knee is still hurting and doctor appt isn't until the 27th. Thank goodness for ice and occassional pain pill. Can't sleep in bed...have to sleep in my recliner. Hope everyone has a safe and Blessed week.

I have a new name....

Well, I have a new name now...my hubby is calling me "Hop along"! That seems to be about all I can do right now. It could be worse, I know.

I can't complain.......

MRI results are in...tear of medial meniscus...surgery is in my future. Could be much worse, so I can't complain.

MRI Done

Just returned from getting the MRI done on my knee...wow, that was noisy!! This was my first experience with an MRI and I was so glad they had earphones for me to listen to radio station...all that noise...sounded like jack hammers! lol! Luckily, they only put the bottom 1/2 of me in that "tube"...don't think I am claustrobic...but don't know for sure. Glad I didn't have to any more than that.

I have been working on my Fall and Christmas Primitive ornies and will be posting a "Prim Ornie Give Away" very soon.

New Blog Format

How do you like my new BLOG format? I asked Denise of KKL Primitives to work on it for me and I think she did a great job! She used some graphics that I had purchased last year (from Brenda of Hattie's Workshop) and I am very pleased with the results. Thank you so much, Denise (Neenee)!! You did a great job!!

I was scheduled to get an MRI today, but our insurance company didn't agree, so I hope to be able to have one sometime this week. I want to know what is going on with my knee...it is very painful and my whole body is messed up from limping and walking weird! I really miss aquasize and water walking too.

Why are birthdays not as much fun anymore????

Things are getting back to normal around here. My sister went home, the kids and granddogs have went home and I survived another birthday. Why is it that birthdays are not as much fun anymore??? lol! In all the excitement of having the kids and granddogs here over the weekend, I have hurt my knee again...so no aquasize for awhile...I am hobbling around again! Ugh! I am not good with pain! My sister went back to Colorado and will be back to see Mom and I in a few months. We laughed ourselves silly and ate too much Braum's ice cream....AGAIN!! Oh well! Aquasize class and water walking again, so hopefully that will help soon!

My sister is coming today from Denver for a few days. She will take over my duties with my Mom, so I can have a break. Mom always enjoys having her too, so it will be fine. We always laugh ourselves silly and have to go to Braum's ice cream store several times. They do not have Braum's ice cream stores in Colorado, and she loves their ice cream...so do I! We were raised on ice cream! lol!
