New member of our family
Hi Blogger Friends!
We have been without our 12 year old dog for two months tomorrow. It has been so hard since we had to put him down. We have really missed him. I have been looking on the internet, at our local SPCA, newspaper, etc and my husband and I saw this guy on Saturday at our local SPCA.
I brought him home today and he is making himself at home...already acts like he owns the place...I think I am in trouble!! We have not decided on a name yet...the teen voluteers at the SPCA called him "Cotton" and then changed it to "Waldo"! I like the name "Sandy" but I guess that isn't very masculine, is it? lol! Anyone got any ideas? Let me know if you do.
He doesn't care for his collar, nor his leash and has yelped/howled when I put him in his crate (I had to leave for awhile). Hopefully, the noise level will reduce soon...I certainly hope so.
Right now, he is curled up in a towel, sound asleep by my feet while I am blogging. I better wake him up or he might not want to sleep tonight. Oh dear...it may be a long night!

Do Americans realize how Blessed they truly are?
I have been thrilled to see that many people have mentioned, in their blogs, that this is Holy Week, today is Good Friday and all that this week means to those that believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour.
However, I wonder as Americans...do we REALLY realize how Blessed we are...that we can state our religious beliefs in print...and share our thoughts with others. There are many countries in the world, where stating religious beliefs is not allowed.
We as Americans, have so much to be thankful for...that we can share our belief with anyone that wants to read our blog, post, etc. Some may not agree with our belief, but we won't be thrown in jail, tortured or killed for our belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour.
The United States of America citizens need to be praying that we will return to our Founding Fathers beliefs and remember that "In God We Trust" is true and that phrase is not to be taken lightly.
Thank you, Jesus for dying for my sins!

That First Easter
I know a man called Jesus,
Who from His grave arose,
On that first Easter morning
To vindicate our souls.
He bore the cross of Calvary
And shed His blood for you and me.
He paid a debt He didn't owe,
As through His blood forgiveness flowed.
Then, from His crucifixion,
Our eternal life was formed
And, through His resurrection,
That first precious Easter born.
(Author unknown).
Take Care and I hope that you and your family have a safe and Blessed Easter.

Very sad weekend at our house.............
On Saturday (3/06/10), my hubby and I had to put our 12 year old dog down.
He has had bad knees/stiffness for quite some time and for the last three weeks, I had been taking him to the vet twice a week...for a shot to help with the arthritis pain...in addition to Rimadyl and other ways to make him more comfortable. This winter has been especially hard on him!
I took him for his 7th shot on Friday, and he had improved alot since we started the shots. We thought we were making progress and helping him (he was getting around so much better), but something happended Friday evening while we were gone.
When we returned to the house Friday evening, he could not move his back legs. He would try to get up and end up going in circles with his front feet...the only ones that he could get to move. He could not get his back legs up. My hubby had to carry him outside and set him down to do his "business". He could stand then, however, he was shaking so bad that it was pitiful. Saturday morning, he was no better, so we took him to the vet. The vet said that a nerve was being pinched and the shots had helped his knees and legs. However, his back was damaged with arthritis also and there wasn't anything else they could do for him.
My hubby held him and I talked to Dippy while he was given the shot and he peacefully when to sleep. It was heart wrenching and I cried for most of the day. He was a great dog and the house is so quiet now. Hubby and I will miss him so much. He had helped to keep our "empty nest" from being so quiet, since our two daughters married and moved out of town.
He was a great watch dog, wonderful friend and companion and we are missing him very much.

Beautiful morning - frozen fog!!
On our way to church this morning, I saw something that I don't remember seeing before...frozen fog! It was beautiful and we are to have more of the same on Monday morning. Our city streets are snow packed and full of ruts...I hope that the snow plows will be around soon, however, then I won't be able to get out of my driveway...never happy! lol! Church service was great, as always.
Oklahoma weather was very interesting last week...to say the least. Forecast says that we might make the 40's this week, so there will be a little bit of thawing...and re freezing, so look out for the "Black Ice"!
Hope everyone has a safe and Blessed week.

Snow is over - 10 inches fell!
The snow has moved eastward and we ended up with 10 inches of snow. The local schools had a snow day on Friday, so there was lots of wonderful snow for sledding. We were so Blessed that we didn't receive the ice in our small Oklahoma town. We had a bad ice storm several years ago and we were without power for 3 days...it was awful. You don't realize how much you use your electricity until you don't have it!
Hubby has been out shoveling the sidewalk and driveway. He made a trip to McDonalds for lunch and said the main streets were okay...but the side streets were not too good...snow packed and slippery. The snow will be around for several days because the temperatures are to be in the low 30's in the daytime and teens at night...no melting for a few days. I imagine everything will be back to normal by Monday.
Hope everyone has a safe and Blessed weekend.

Snow is still coming down
Wow! We are still having snow and it is really piling up. The weather forecast was right....this time! (I am glad that I am not a weather person...lol!). So very thankful that we didn't receive the ice storm that was supposed to hit us also. Snow is just fine, thank you!
It is supposed to stop snowing by this evening and this is the most our local has received for several years. This is nothing compared to those of you that live in the northern states...but for Oklahoma it is a big event. The kids are loving it!
Hope everyone has a safe and Blessed weekend.

Winter weather is returning!
Hi Blog Friends! Winter weather is returning to Oklahoma late this evening and tomorrow. (Today, our high temperatures were in the high 50's!!). We are in a "Winter Storm Warning" and everyone is trying to get ready for the storm. This is unusual for Oklahoma and there is always a whirlwind of activity at the grocery store, gas stations, hardware stores, etc. Our area is to receive 1/4" to 1/2" of ice and then 8-10" of snow on top of that. Hopefully, the weather forecasts will be wrong on both accounts.
Some of the country is equipped for the winter storms, blizzards, etc...but Oklahoma doesn't have the money to spend on heavy duty snow removal equipment, etc. The Department of Transportation does a great job with the snow removal items they have available, however, the financial shortfalls leaves "snow removal equipment" at the bottom of the long lists of areas to fund. Oklahoma is certainly feeling the effects of the economy.
I will update you tomorrow on the ice accumulation/snowfall amounts that we receive. Those of you that live in the northern part of the country will laugh at our small amounts of snow that we receive...but for Oklahoma...it is a big deal!

Girlie Wisdom...........
I received this list in an email and thought you all would enjoy receiving some "Girlie Wisdom" too. Don't know who wrote it...but it is pretty good!! Enjoy and Laugh!!
1. A friend of mine confused her Valium with her birth control pills... She has 14 kids but doesn't really care.
2. One of life's mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 lbs.
3. My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.
4. The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
5. The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you are doing, someone else does.
6. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.
7. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today...
8. Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.
9. I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my underwear...
10. Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes!
11. Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like...'You know sometimes I forget to eat!' .....Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!
12.. The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then they marry him.
13. I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!

We celebrated our 40 year Wedding Anniversary........
Hello Blogger friends! Hope that your week has started out well and you have been able to get alot done. It has been so foggy here and dreary...but not too cold, so I am happy about the warmer weather.
Over the weekend, my husband and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We spent the day with our daughters and their husbands...attending church together and going out for a wonderful lunch. It was a great day and I was so thankful that we achieved this milestone.
We have had our share of ups and downs, but with Jesus's help and lots of prayers, we have been so Blessed to make a loving home together. I am such a Blessed woman...it amazes me. Thank you, Jesus for all you have Blessed me with.
Hope you all have a great week! Take Care and God Bless!

Jesus is with us!
Happy Friday to everyone!
I received an email earlier today and in part of the email was the following statement. I thought it was comforting, very encouraging and something to look forward to.
"None of us knows what the new year will bring, but we know Jesus is with us!"

Happy Monday to everyone!
We had a great weekend with our oldest daughter and two grand dogs home for the weekend. Thank you, La La for coming and bringing so many laughs with you!!
Started off today with a doctor's appointment with my knee surgeon. I received a great report and he released me from my knee surgery. He asked me if I would do it again, and I told him "absolutely"! The first week was not alot of fun, but being without most of the pain...has been very nice and worth the surgery!
Then I went to the hospital and had some blood drawn for blood tests that were supposed to be done in December. I had been too busy with the holidays, it had been too cold...I can give all kind of excuses...I just hate to have blood taken. However, it needed to be done, so I can cross that off my list! It was just routine blood tests, so I don't think there will be any surprises...at least I hope not!
Did several errands after leaving the hospital, so was able to cross several more things off my list of things to do. It has been warmer today...into the 50's...so it was great to be outside and feel the sunshine on my face.
Need to get busy and I hope that you all have a safe and Blessed evening.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Hello blogger friends!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Our oldest daughter came home and brought her two dogs...so I am having a very nice weekend! I love our granddogs and having two out of the three is just about perfect! I laugh at their impish faces, traits and playing with each other. Of course, our older dog doesn't appreciate them nearly as much as I do. (He was our girls dog...until they married and got their own...so he is stuck with Mom and Dad!). He doesn't like to play and doesn't get around too good anymore. He is 11 years old and has arthiritis, etc...so, he just lays down, watches them and tries to stay out of their way. We miss having our son in law, but imagine he is enjoying the peace and quiet!! We are so Blessed that our girls love their Mom and Dad and want to spend time with us. Thank you, Jesus!
Our youngest daughter and her husband recently purchased a new house (new to them), so they have been busy getting settled in. They have a Yorkie Poo and he is a perfect addition to our "grand dogs" and is alot of fun too.
Well, I have rambled enough. If I talk this much about our grand dogs...just think what I will do when we have grandchildren!
Take Care and God Bless!
