Winter weather is returning!

Hi Blog Friends! Winter weather is returning to Oklahoma late this evening and tomorrow. (Today, our high temperatures were in the high 50's!!). We are in a "Winter Storm Warning" and everyone is trying to get ready for the storm. This is unusual for Oklahoma and there is always a whirlwind of activity at the grocery store, gas stations, hardware stores, etc. Our area is to receive 1/4" to 1/2" of ice and then 8-10" of snow on top of that. Hopefully, the weather forecasts will be wrong on both accounts.

Some of the country is equipped for the winter storms, blizzards, etc...but Oklahoma doesn't have the money to spend on heavy duty snow removal equipment, etc. The Department of Transportation does a great job with the snow removal items they have available, however, the financial shortfalls leaves "snow removal equipment" at the bottom of the long lists of areas to fund. Oklahoma is certainly feeling the effects of the economy.

I will update you tomorrow on the ice accumulation/snowfall amounts that we receive. Those of you that live in the northern part of the country will laugh at our small amounts of snow that we receive...but for Oklahoma...it is a big deal!

Take Care and God Bless!

  1. We lived in OKC area for 10 years and I recall a few of the large snowstorms that swept through. I remember driving home from N. OKC to Moore in a driving snow storm. I-240 to I-35 South was clogged with commuters trying to get home as well. It took me 3 hours to go 25 miles. It was a frightful drive. I hope you get your shopping and errands done before the storm arrives so you can stay indoors and watch the snow from the warmth and safety of your home.
